Start at the Alumni Library Homepage and select the second tab, "Research by Subject."

Then choose select "Humanities."

First let's look for some encyclopedic articles.

Look to the left side of the page under "Reference Resources." Select "Credo Reference". Type in the term Dominican Republic and review the search results. You will find background on the land and its people. You might also try the Britannica Online for a country overview.

Next, let's look at article databases.

On the left side of the page, choose"General Resources." Your first stop should be Academic Search Premier. Enter Dominican Republic and stereotypes as your search terms and review a few articles. When you open the article you'll see subject terms for the article -- Dominicans and stereotypes. Next, perform another search using these terms and the articles retrieved will be more precise. If you need an article in full text, and don't see it in our collection after clicking the sfx or find full text link, try ordering it through interlibrary loan. It's easy! The title and author and publication information are saved automatically and all you need to enter is your email and name.

To request a book from another library you will need your Wentworth ID card. Once the item information for the book is on the screen, click make a request on the right hand side. You'll need to enter the ID number from your card -- it is the small numbers at the very bottom that begin with 1119 and your last name. When the next screen comes up, enter the pick up as wit circ desk and your ID number with 1119 once more.
