The library does have a software program you can use to view a topographical map of Boston - Terrain Navigator.
This software is held at the Circulation Desk, under call number 917.4 .T47. Disc 1 is the installer for the program, and Disc 9 has the data for Massachusetts. If you haven't used the software before, make sure to check out both of these discs.
There are also tools online you can use, such as the OLIVER: MassGIS Mapping Tool website. To use the website,
- Find the area that you would like to see mapped by using the sizing bar on the top right.
- Click and drag to center the correct area.
- Then, on the right side of the screen, open the Images folder.
- Select USGS Topographic Maps > USGS Topographic Maps.
- Countour and elevation lines will now appear on the selected map area.
